“My involvements with IEPPV, PPC, Pro Photo Expo and West Coast School have enhanced my abilities as a professional photographer far beyond any expectations I had. Giving back is genuinely amazing when no matter how much you give, you always seem to get back more.”
Michael Sauer
1st Vice President

Phone: (530) 276-8404
Michael started his photographic career in 1996 at the prompting of friends and family who could see that his heart was in both capturing sights from around the world and experiencing the thrill of helping others learn to see their world in a new ‘light’. Michael has found that a lifetime is an exceedingly short period of time to fit in all the wonderful hobbies – and eventually the careers – that he has come to enjoy. Channeling an OCD’esque personality, he has found himself involved in occupations requiring detail and a high degree of accuracy, from certifying diamonds to running an accounting business. However, his passion changed from office-based businesses to the creative and traveling career of professional photography. Michael began shooting wildlife, scenic and fine art images, studying with leading outdoor photographers Galen Rowell, Art Wolfe, Franz Lanting and George Lepp. Michael has since expanded his business to incorporate portrait and commercial photography, and once again surrounds himself with the best in the business at the state and national levels. Raised in a loving family environment and prompted at an early age to give back to the world that has provided him so many wonderful opportunities, Michael now finds himself serving on the board of the Professional Photographers of California – which he considers a great honor.
Jim Doyle
2nd Vice President

Phone: (714) 875-3030
For over 30 years Jim has been “telling the story” of creative people through the art of photography. He has gained a reputation for working closely with his clients to supply high quality photography that differentiates the client from their competition. His specialities include architectural, commercial & scenic photography. He and his team are regularly published both domestically and internationally.
In 2006, as a way of giving back to the community and to pass on to the next generation some of what he has learned over the years, Jim started teaching at Rancho Santiago College and conducting photography & business seminars again.
In 2007 Jim rejoined PPA and PPOC to meet other photographers in the area and found himself getting involved.
“the PPOC organization offered me a fresh view on what I have been doing for many years, and being asked to serve as president in 2009 & 2010 and continue the educational programs was a real honor for me. I would encourage everyone one to get involved at whatever level you can. You will meet great people and it will certainly broaden your view”.
2013 finds Jim’s photography & teaching businesses continuing to grow and he has been elected to the board of the Professional Photographers of California and will serve as 2nd Vice President.

Robin Swanson is a professional photographer and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who realized that her accounting and business skills could be combined with her photography skills to create a successful photography business.
Robin has always loved photography, and several years ago decided to become a professional photographer. She is a member of San Fernando Valley Professional Photographers (SFVPP), Professional Photographers of California (PPC), and Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and attends every photography convention, seminar, and class that she can fit into her already busy schedule.
Robin has easily adapted her business and accounting skills to her growing photography business. During these past few years she learned a lot about photography from her peers, but also noticed that some of them could benefit from her accounting and business knowledge. As a Certified QuickBooks Professional Advisor, Robin is helping other professional photographers use QuickBooks software to accurately account for their finances. In March 2007, Robin made her first QuickBooks presentation to Gold Coast Professional Photographers Association.
In addition to professional photography, Robin works full time as the CFO for a small aerospace related business in the San Fernando Valley.
Robin photographs anything that gets in front of her camera – from people to pets to cars to nature. Robin is never a stranger for long, her engaging and lively personality make her a welcome photographer at any event. She photographs weddings, class reunions, family reunions, sporting events, car shows, dog shows, graduations and school events. Robin’s great rapport with adults, children, and even pets creates an environment conducive to capturing beautiful images. Several of Robin’s photographs have earned merits in regional print competitions and in PPA’s International Print Competition.
