For over 30 years Jim has been “telling the story” of creative people through the art of photography. He has gained a reputation for working closely with his clients to supply high quality photography that differentiates the client from their competition. His specialities include architectural, commercial & scenic photography. He and his team are regularly published both domestically and internationally.
In 2006, as a way of giving back to the community and to pass on to the next generation some of what he has learned over the years, Jim started teaching at Rancho Santiago College and conducting photography & business seminars again.
In 2007 Jim rejoined PPA and PPOC to meet other photographers in the area and found himself getting involved.
“the PPOC organization offered me a fresh view on what I have been doing for many years, and being asked to serve as president in 2009 & 2010 and continue the educational programs was a real honor for me. I would encourage everyone one to get involved at whatever level you can. You will meet great people and it will certainly broaden your view”.
2013 finds Jim’s photography & teaching businesses continuing to grow and he has been elected to the board of the Professional Photographers of California and will serve as 2nd Vice President.

Dr. Steven Roosa has been behind the camera for over 36 years, including 28 of them as a professional. When he first picked one up at the age of 15, he instantly knew he was in love (or in trouble, depending on the size of his bank account at any given time). Over the years, his love and passion for the art of photography has only grown, as evidenced by the international recognition received for his many photographs, magazine covers, posters, and articles. Steven’s most recent awards include being one of PPA’s 2012 Photographers of the Year, along with being twice awarded one of PPC’s Top 10 Photographers (2008 and 2010). Steven opened his first studio in 1985 in Torrance, CA, before moving it to Thousand Oaks, CA, in 2005. He is both a current and past president of the Channel Islands Professional Photographers Association (CIPPA). He also served for 3 years as the editor for PPC’s award winning magazine, ProPhotoWest. He frequently judges and teaches photography throughout California, at both the pro and amateur levels. Steven currently lives with his writer wife, their son, and two dogs.

Steve’s journey began during his senior year in college. He was attending on a scholarship which, much to his dismay did not include beer and pizza money. To alleviate the situation Steve began using the 35mm camera he received as a high school graduation present to earn some extra cash shooting portraits of fellow students.
As a business major with an emphasis on marketing, Steve never intended to pursue a career in photography. One thing led to another, portraits of fellow students turned into their weddings and their friend’s weddings and portraits. Before long Steve was spending every weekend behind the camera and every night fulfilling orders.
Skip ahead twenty-five-plus years. Steve is now a Product Manager for a large, multi-national corporation and continues to shoot family portraits and weddings nearly full time. In 2004, at the very strong suggestion of his wife, Steve was offered a choice… one or the other.
In 2004 Steve left corporate America for a full time photography career. Steve and his wife Lee converted a substantial portion of their home into a place of business… shooting room, office, sales room, everything you’d find in a small brick and mortar business, minus the overhead. 2014 marks their 10th year in business.
Steve joined PPA and PPSV in 2008, earned his CPP designation in 2010 and his Craftsman degree in 2014. In 2011 and 2012 he earned PPSV’s Photographer of the Year awards in Landscape, Nature, Commercial and Open Illustrative categories. He’s serving his third term as President of PPSV and his fourth term as a PPA Certification Liaison. He’s also served on the board of directors of his local chamber of commerce and on the boards of other local not-for-profit associations.
When not in the studio shooting for clients, he enjoys photographing nature and wildlife and spends several weeks each year on the road.

Robin Swanson is a professional photographer and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who realized that her accounting and business skills could be combined with her photography skills to create a successful photography business.
Robin has always loved photography, and several years ago decided to become a professional photographer. She is a member of San Fernando Valley Professional Photographers (SFVPP), Professional Photographers of California (PPC), and Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and attends every photography convention, seminar, and class that she can fit into her already busy schedule.
Robin has easily adapted her business and accounting skills to her growing photography business. During these past few years she learned a lot about photography from her peers, but also noticed that some of them could benefit from her accounting and business knowledge. As a Certified QuickBooks Professional Advisor, Robin is helping other professional photographers use QuickBooks software to accurately account for their finances. In March 2007, Robin made her first QuickBooks presentation to Gold Coast Professional Photographers Association.
In addition to professional photography, Robin works full time as the CFO for a small aerospace related business in the San Fernando Valley.
Robin photographs anything that gets in front of her camera – from people to pets to cars to nature. Robin is never a stranger for long, her engaging and lively personality make her a welcome photographer at any event. She photographs weddings, class reunions, family reunions, sporting events, car shows, dog shows, graduations and school events. Robin’s great rapport with adults, children, and even pets creates an environment conducive to capturing beautiful images. Several of Robin’s photographs have earned merits in regional print competitions and in PPA’s International Print Competition.
